Dehumidfication Systems

Humidity is the amount of water vapor present in the air. Although there are different terms such as absolute, specific, and relative humidity, the concept of relative humidity is the most commonly used. Relative humidity is the ratio of the amount of water vapor in the air to the maximum amount of water vapor the air can hold at the same temperature, and it is expressed as a percentage (%). The thermodynamics of moist air, or psychrometrics, is the branch of science that studies the properties of air and water vapor mixtures.

Dehumidification applications are divided into two methods: dehumidification by cooling the air and dehumidification using hygroscopic materials. System selections are made based on the process requirements and the desired relative humidity values of the space. Our company, specializing in psychrometric studies and dehumidification applications, implements these systems across various sectors such as food and cosmetics, with a primary focus on Clean Rooms. The definitions of some psychrometric terms are provided below.

Specific Humidity

It is the amount of water vapor contained in a unit weight of moist air.

Absolute Humidity

It is the amount of water vapor contained in a unit volume of moist air.

Relative Humidity

It is the ratio of the amount of water vapor in the air to the maximum amount of water vapor that the air can hold at the same temperature.

Dew Point

It is the temperature at which an air-vapor mixture under specific conditions becomes fully saturated at the same barometric pressure, without any change in the weight of the water vapor it contains.

Dry-Bulb Temperature

It is the air temperature measured by a normal thermometer, meaning a thermometer whose bulb is dry and in direct contact with the air.

Wet-Bulb Temperature

It is the air temperature measured by a thermometer whose bulb is covered with a clean, soft wick and wetted by being dipped into water during the measurement process. The temperature difference between this and the dry-bulb temperature depends on the rate of evaporation from the wet wick. This rate, in turn, depends on the difference between the actual pressure of the vapor contained in the air and the partial pressure of the maximum water vapor it could hold at the same dry-bulb temperature.
